Thoughts:
I have come to realize just how much God has been involved with every detail of our lives from the very moment of creation. We go mindlessly about our daily routines. God remains faithful and unmoved. He continues to accomplish what He will regardless and despite our degree of involvement.

Regardless of which line, Cain or Seth, God was in control. His way was and will be worked out. If no written record had been kept or given, i.e.. the written Word or scripture, but only a genealogy recorded, the Gospel of God could still be seen.
The God-Man is appointed; A mortal man of sorrow. The Glory of God shall come down instructing that His death shall bring those sinking down in despair comfort/rest. The fame of the stronghold of Babylon and its boundary and sorrow extended like a plant beyond the region of division (at the tower of Babel). A friend (also) branches out, or (is called) "the vine-branch", snorting with fury! (when breathing). The glorious father - the father of a great multitude laughs (triumphantly) as He outwits (his enemy)! A mighty one struggles (in prayer)! A righteous Prince sees God! It is a shame that so many of us have lost the inheritance of our names, the workings of God throughout the genealogies of our family lines. We have lost the promises and treasures that God has placed in us. I have only a few names in my family history. My father was Ivan: God is gracious; his mother was Jesse: God's Gift. Looking at the man or his mother, no one would ever see that.
My mother's line: Joyce means Experienced in battle; Martha means Lady and Charles means Free Man.
Looking at my family history and the meanings of their names, I am astounded. My grandfather, Charles, was sold as a baby on the wharves of Scotland to a family coming to the New World. He was the son of a bar maid.
My grandmother was the illegitimate daughter of two Germans who likewise came to the new world as farmers, but she always had a taste for the better things in life, a flare for expensive quality. My mother was a warrior from the day she was born. Tough and loud, she would butt heads with anyone who she considered wrong regardless of their position or authority - she had a true spirit of right and wrong. My paternal grandmother's name was Jesse, God's Gift. But it was she, in total desperation to support her large and fatherless family, widowed with 6 children, who sold my father at the age of 9 to a farmer. My father's name meant God is gracious, a reminder through all the hardship and torture he endured in youth.
I am the daughter of a slave on my father's side and the granddaughter of slave on my mother's side. Yes, it is that close in my generations. I have a very unglorious history. Even though my grandmother was the illegitimate daughter of two immigrants, she was called a lady. Even though my grandfather was sold at birth and taken to Canada, he was called a free man.
Even though my father was sold as a child for slave labor, he was told God is gracious. Even though I was rejected from birth by my own family, it was declared that I would be a hornet used to drive out God's enemies and free His people.
My inheritance: I am God's gift for God is gracious. I am a lady, a free woman, experienced in battle. I am a warrior whose freedom has been won and declared and God watches over me in His graciousness. That is my inheritance.
Even my own name was an accident. My mother gave my father the name I was to have and he changed it by the time he got to the registry office.
Deborah.bee. Joy.charisma, joy, grand. Jessica.God sees, God's grace, Yahweh beholds. Jones.son of John (God is gracious).
God promised the children of Israel that He would send the hornets into the bushes to drive out the enemy so they could be removed from the land.
Deborah means "bee" although some think of me as a hornet. This deliverance brings joy to the people of God. God shows me what He sees. Jessica means God sees, Yahweh beholds. And finally, I am the daughter of God's graciousness. In short, I am the hornet that is called to drive out the enemies of God's people, to bring His children joy, seeing what He sees and restoring God's graciousness upon His people.
This is my inheritance. This is my calling. And what is more, it is my heart even before looking at the names in my history. In other words, I am not an accident. He didn't just say 'hey you, doing nothing, make yourself useful."
because I was there, but He planned and fashioned me throughout my family line, saving me for such a time as this.
I say all this not to point at myself, but to cause you to look at your own life.
I will show you another example. Again, very little is known beyond the grandparents. But here are the names. Susan's father's name is Gordon, and his father is William. Her mother is Margaret and her grandmother is Mae.
Susan is Susan Margaret Lock. Wow! When I went through this, the picture became so clear.
Margaret means a pearl; Mae means a kinswomen; Gordon means a Large fort; William means a Strong willed warrior; Susan means Lily; Margaret again means Pearl; and Lock means the opening and closing of gates.
Pearls were considered the most precious of gems and the kingdom of heaven is compared to a pearl. Pearls are used as a metaphor for wise sayings. The fact that pearl is mentioned twice in her lineage, short as it may be, means that she has a double portion of wise sayings that are precious and from the kingdom of God. She is a double portioned "knower." She is a strong willed warrior with the power to open and close gates for her kinswomen, taking them into the protection and strong hold of a large fort - which means she will save many kinswomen, opening them from their prison and freeing them to a place of safety. And some believe that lily is famous for its fragrance, but this is not the case. The lily was white in color, pure, and it was used both on the pillars of the Temple and the Molten Sea. The "laver" in the first temple, which was used to wash the priests' hands and feet, was made from the mirrors of women. The molten sea in Solomon's Temple was huge and also used to wash the hands and feet of the priests. In the New Testament, the laver is referred to in Ephesians 5:26 and Titus 3:5 were we are sanctified by the washing of the water of the word, regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
Susan's calling is quite simply this: She is a strong willed warrior who will open the gates of her kinswomen who are prisoners, freeing them, telling them about the kingdom of God, and sanctifying them through her wise words that will wash them in the word of God, regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. She will take them to a safe place, a strong large fort.
Her heart? Her heart lies with the women of the world that have been sold into slavery. She wants to see them free and made strong and independent so they never have to go into slavery again.
Take the time and look into your inheritance. Even if you know only one or two names, your inheritance is written there for all to see. It is not just for some special people. We are all special to the Lord God, our Creator. He has placed these names in our line not by accident, but by design. A simple Google search (you don't even have to go into the pages to find the meanings, just scan the search page for the meanings) can show you the meanings of your names. Put them together and see where they lead.
Begin to see His hand on your life in a new and refreshing way. He has written His love for you in the names He has placed in your line. His love is there for all who would look to see.
It is a shame that the modern trend is to make up names that have no meaning and that are completely unique, without foundation. In this way, mankind continues to rob their children of their inheritance - Lucifer has always intended to steal God's promises from His children. And Lucifer does this in so many ways.
Father, I call out to You from the natural realm of Your people. Father, I call out to You who sits upon the throne of God. You have kept Your hand upon Your children, and we did not even know. You have meticulously and methodically kept your hand upon my family because you knew that I would be here in this time. You shaped their lives and saved them from death to keep the line alive. You have saved me before I was even born. I praise You and adore You for Your unending graciousness and love. FATHER - You love me!
JESUS - You love me! HOLY SPIRIT - You love me! How can I learn to accept that? How can I learn to hold onto that and let it take over my life in every way? How can I let Your love shine in every facet of my life? I shall not worry, because You love me and have never left me. I shall not fear, because You love me and have never left me. You have shown Your design and care in my life even in the short history that I know. How much more can Your love be seen in the names throughout the ages that I do not know. What a story that would tell. Father, I claim my inheritance. I have looked and seen and counted the price - I claim my inheritance. Father, put it in my hands and hide it in my heart. Let it be seen in my life. Let my every breath exhale the inheritance You have placed within me. I am the daughter of a warrior who declares war on Your enemies for You have freed my family from the slavery of Babylon. Lift me up to be the lady You have called me to be, the Bride by Your side. I bow my knee before Your throne and I claim my inheritance and declare it in my life. Thank you. And as I am praying this prayer, I see, not only for me, but for all who take the time to find their inheritance and choose to claim it, a line of angels, each one holding a gift in their hands. And in each of these gifts is a part of the wealth of this inheritance You have given not only me, but each one of us. And for each of us, these gifts are different according to what our inheritance is.
OH LORD! For me, I see shield (faith) and sword (word of God) and boots (gospel of peace) and helmet (salvation) and breastplate (righteousness) and a girdle (truth). They are glistening silver (God's word, purification by
affliction) and gold (purity, test). I see robes of purple (Kingship of God), robes of red (judgment, warfare) and robes of gold (Holy to God). I see chests of jewels - emeralds (growth, integrity, new life, increase and prosperity); rubies (preciousness, costly glories, wisdom, and prized treasure); diamonds (stability, virtuous and right standing with God); and Amber (the presence and glory of God in judgment, purification and sanctification). The line of angels goes beyond the horizon. The gifts seem never ending. And they are spread about the floor before the throne of God where I am kneeling.
Lord, I bow my head and raise my right arm in service to You. I lay before You, one who was saved and redeemed from slavery choosing to come into Your service, a bondslave by choice, to do all that You would have me do. I declare now, before heaven and earth that I have chosen to fulfill that which You have given me to do, here and now in both spiritual and natural realms.
And as I am praying this, in the back of my mind the words are crying out - BUT THE COST? WHO WILL PAY THE COST?
And then I see the Lord Himself reach out and place in my outstretched hand a gem of huge size, brilliant color, more pure than anything ever seen. It a ruby of tremendous size. With this I will pay the cost.
Lord, Your will be done in every area of my life. In Jesus' most precious and hallowed name, amen.

I quite enjoy the research, but it takes 30-60 minutes each (Susan took 45 minutes because I search out the orgins of the name and then the history behind the meaning) to research through the scriptures, websites, ancient practices and histories, following the thread the Holy Spirit takes me on. The Holy Spirit shows me which direction to take and the final draft is put together with vision. And since I have discovered that most people have trouble with this, I will include a prayer of decree and proclamation to claim your inheritance.
